Explanation

Hey guys!
Cami here! I know I was supposed to update last Friday and on Monday but I do have other things going on in my life that require attention.

For example I am going to be starting a new job tomorrow and I'm very excited to start it. In order to do that I needed to fill out an application and do many other things to get the job. I'm also trying to spend as much time with my friends as  possible before we get separated for college.

I was looking at the statistics for my blog the other day and I saw so many people from so many different countries that I never imagined would even look at my blog on the stats page that is only making me want to work harder and put out more content for you every week.

This blog is my priority and I want to make sure that I put out the best content possible. I wanted to post something on Friday and on Monday but I got home really late both days and I didn’t  want to put out something mediocre just for the sake of posting.

As a start transitioning into my new job and everything starts falling into place it will be a lot easier for me to manage my time and be able to sort out what I need to do on which days.

For all my new readers thank you so much for checking out my blog and I hope that you are enjoying the content that I put out and for everyone that has stuck with me since the beginning I do appreciate it!!

As of Monday I will start posting again 3 times a week and I asked that you please be flexible and patient with me as I try to set up my new schedule.

I'm really grateful for everyone that has stumbled upon my blog and I hope you have enjoyed reading everything I post!

I will start probably in late August or early September themes for different days of the week. Monday will be something specific, and so on, in order to establish some order for the success of the blog.

In regards to the YouTube channel I wouldn’t  be expecting anything to come out until September or maybe later than that just because I need to organize myself a little more and I come up with some original ideas and see how I can incorporate it into my blog, as I want my main focus to be my blog.

I'm sorry if this post is a little jumbled out of order may be a little repetitive I just wanted to make sure that I said everything that was on my mind and everything came out aross the way I wanted it to!

I’ll be back Friday!

Decorating a small space

Hey Guys!

I’m sorry for the late post tonight, but late is better than nothing right? I’ve been busy all day with no time to sit down and write for yall.

Today I’m going to pretend I’m a decorator and talk about how to decorate a small place.

I have a small bedroom, with a lot of windows so I had to get creative in terms of decoration. I was able to come up with multiple different ways and today I a going to show you my top 5 favorite decorating tips for a small room.

All the pictures I am using I have taken myself and this is solely my opinion, no one helped me come up with this, but I do know that some of the tips are common and used frequently. This is just what has worked for me and to hopefully give someone some inspiration. All opinions are my own and credit is given to whoever originally ame up with these ideas!

  1. Tapestries Rule - I have a Harry Potter Tapestry that covers a great portion of my window wall. This is not only grea as a decoration piece, but it also blocks out the sun. I chose something so big because it covers a large area and it looks good with my room. Tapestries look great and can really bring a whole room together
  2. Display the shoes! - I am IN LOVE with Converse sneakers. They are practically the only shoe I wear, and I am known for them amongst my friends. I took a wine rack which is typically used for storing wine (DUH) and put my converse in there. They fit perfectly and I believe it adds a really cool unique touch to the room. Not only are all my shoes in one place, but the pops of color from the different shoes tie the whole room together.
  3. Picture walls - I love getting pictures from my students (I teach Sunday School), I love hanging my artwork and I also love the Beatles. When moving into this small space I had to think about what to do with all my decorations and such. I saw that there was a built in book shelf with the room, so I made that the accent wall of my room. I have all of my books (I can do a book collection) as well as pictures, artwork, and my Beatles poster all up for everyone to se. The decorations take pretty much the entire wall, but everyone that has come over loves the wall full of things, and I love how it is the main focus of the room.
  4. Animals Rock - I love animals, so much. I have a siberian husky, but I am also in love with pugs, so after shopping at TJMaxx, I saw that they has a pug bag and I bought it and hung it up in my room to display. It looks cute in my opinion, and it also hides the messiness of the drawers I refuse to clean. It’s a win-win!
  5. Keep hanging things! I love having things on my walls, I like how it all ties together and how it all looks cool, but the limited wall space kind of didn’t allow it. So instead what I did was, I used the normal plastic window blinds and hung different things on it with paper clips. It is so durable and steady! I was super amazed!! I have a bunch of things on that window and it all looks good (at least in my opinion).

Remember that sometimes we need to get creative on how we decorate and we need to learn how to find the tips and tricks that will work for our individual rooms, because it is very rare that one thing accommodates everyone.

That’s all for today!

Bastille Day Horror

Even though I already posted today, I wanted to make a quick post to write about the attack that happened in France yesterday. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.Last time I heard the news, 84 people were killed.

I don’t understand how some people can be so cruel. Let us pray and instill peace in this world, instead of blaming people. We have the power to change these events and prevent more innocent people from dying.

Fanfiction is Underestimated

Hey guys! Cami here!

Before I begin, I owe you all an apology, I took an unforeseen sabbatical that was much longer than anticipated. Now that most of my engagements are over, I can once again resume my laid-back lifestyle and start writing again.

Today I’m going to talk about the importance of writing, I know some of you may be thinking how boring! But in reality it’s not. While this may not be my juiciest article, I do want to talk about this because it has been on my mind for the past few weeks.

I will be the first to admit that Tumblr is probably the best thing that has been invented after the internet. As a person who spends as much time working out as Steve Rogers spends being mean to people (for those non-Marvel fans, he’s (Captain America) literally the nicest human being on the planet), so naturally, Tumblr called my name and I gladly let it consume my life.

On Tumblr are SUPER TALENTED writers who write something called fanfiction. Its very hard to be a hardcore fan of something and not read the fanfiction. I LOVE reading fanfiction, it’s creative, and sometimes brings you a sense of satisfaction that the book, movie, or comic, can’t. There is fanfiction for pretty much everything. Marvel fics, Boy/Girl Meets World, 5 Seconds of Summer, Twilight, everything. It can be about the reader and their favorite character or member of a band *cough cough Luke HemHem cough cough* or help defend a character (Draco is misunderstood, he’s not evil I promise).

My point is fanfiction is an amazing way for people of all ages (mainly teens) to write and come together as a community of people sharing similar interests. After you take into consideration that it is an alteration to whatever fandom you belong in, you realize that the people who wrote it spent their time and effort to craft beautifully written piece of literature and when I realized this I had an epiphany,

Teenagers, who are portrayed as these internet obsessed teens who do nothing all day are WRITING, making up stories and sharing it with the world. That is amazing! How incredible is that?! Yet some people seem to think that this is a waste of time.

I very much disagree with that. Writing is so important, it is definitely one of the few things that most people cannot avoid after leaving school, that and reading. It is everywhere, you really can’t avoid it… like math.

This is basically what I wanted to share with you all. If you write fanfiction, if you read it, if you write tiny drabbles or poems or even a sentence describing your perfect day, keep doing it. Don’t stop! Because writing is so important and it really helps! I’ve had a journal for the past four years since I started high school, no one has ever read what I wrote but I felt so much better after writing. Having things bottled up is not healthy and sometimes you need to write it all down.
Keep writing, don’t stop doing what you’re doing (shamelessly quotes a 5SOS song).

P.S. I promise to go back to my normal writing schedule as of today! Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!! The Youtube channel is still in the works and the book reviews will probably be on the youtube channel. I think I am going to make a 7 part series comparing the Harry Potter books to the movies - prepare yourselves for a rant on that one ;P

3 things Harry Potter Has Taught Us

I got my very first Harry Potter book when I was 6 years old. My first grade teacher gave it to me to practice reading as I showed signs of being an advanced reader.     After devouring the first book my passion grew. My parents would let me read the books once I reached the appropriate age, and did the same for the movies. Once I reached certain ages I was allowed to watch the movies.

As I grew into a teenager i was completely hooked on the harry Potter series, the mini series, the movies, the fanfiction, everything. I was a huge Potterhead and I was not afraid to tell it to the world.

12 years have passed since I opened my very first Harry Potter book and my love for the series is still as powerful as it was then.

This series really helped shape me as a person and it was my whole world while growing up. Sure my interests changed and I had more hobbies, but harry Potter was always there for me to read. What I like to call my "comfort books", books that always make you happy when you read them, and this story makes me very happy to read.

I learned a lot from Harry Potter, and I wanted to share with you guys 3 of what I consider to be important lessons.

1. Love Conquers All

Let me tell you about Severus Snape. He was head over heels, madly in love with Lily Evans. He loved her so much his Patronus was the same as Lily. After she was murdered he was a wreck. He cryptically apologized to Harry for Lily's death (READ THIS if you have no idea what I'm talking about!), and made sure that he kept him protected during his years at Hogwarts. Snape has a heart and his was dark and twisted but pure and full of love for some one who did not love him back.

2. “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” - J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

This is probably one of the best quotes ever, I have it highlighted in my book. Sometimes in life we think we have these abilities that are not good, but it is important to remember that what we do with those abilities is more important. Our actions speak louder than words.

3. Fred and George

Fred and George are and forever will be my two favorite redheads. They are super funny and sneaky, but most importantly they taught us to always be positive and look in the bright side. Sometimes life is gloomy and sad and we cannot find anything to bring us joy and happiness, but Fred and George taught me that every cloud has a silver lining and always be positive.

Presumed Geeks 2.0!!

Hello Everyone!!

Cami here and it has been a long time since we talked!

If you remember me, or have stumbled upon this blog for the first time, let me explain something real quick.

I used to have a blog with my friend Paige called presumedgeeks.blogspot.com. Unfortunately I forgot the password and could not get on, and once I remembered the password and was allowed to get on, I somehow managed to delete the entire blog.

It was very upsetting considering a lot of hard work had gone into that blog, but I decided to just start a new blog!

So this is the new Presumed Geeks!
Same content, just a different URL!

We hope you enjoy the content I put out as much as I enjoy putting it together for y'all!

Until next time!

Stay Geeky!
-Cami

P.S. There will be a new updating schedule on this blog. I will be posting on here every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and will be soon uploading videos on to YouTube as well.

I hope to twice a month start a series here on this blog where I review/talk about a book. these additional posts will be on Saturdays and the series name is TBD!

:)
