3 things Harry Potter Has Taught Us

I got my very first Harry Potter book when I was 6 years old. My first grade teacher gave it to me to practice reading as I showed signs of being an advanced reader.     After devouring the first book my passion grew. My parents would let me read the books once I reached the appropriate age, and did the same for the movies. Once I reached certain ages I was allowed to watch the movies.

As I grew into a teenager i was completely hooked on the harry Potter series, the mini series, the movies, the fanfiction, everything. I was a huge Potterhead and I was not afraid to tell it to the world.

12 years have passed since I opened my very first Harry Potter book and my love for the series is still as powerful as it was then.

This series really helped shape me as a person and it was my whole world while growing up. Sure my interests changed and I had more hobbies, but harry Potter was always there for me to read. What I like to call my "comfort books", books that always make you happy when you read them, and this story makes me very happy to read.

I learned a lot from Harry Potter, and I wanted to share with you guys 3 of what I consider to be important lessons.

1. Love Conquers All

Let me tell you about Severus Snape. He was head over heels, madly in love with Lily Evans. He loved her so much his Patronus was the same as Lily. After she was murdered he was a wreck. He cryptically apologized to Harry for Lily's death (READ THIS if you have no idea what I'm talking about!), and made sure that he kept him protected during his years at Hogwarts. Snape has a heart and his was dark and twisted but pure and full of love for some one who did not love him back.

2. “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.” - J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

This is probably one of the best quotes ever, I have it highlighted in my book. Sometimes in life we think we have these abilities that are not good, but it is important to remember that what we do with those abilities is more important. Our actions speak louder than words.

3. Fred and George

Fred and George are and forever will be my two favorite redheads. They are super funny and sneaky, but most importantly they taught us to always be positive and look in the bright side. Sometimes life is gloomy and sad and we cannot find anything to bring us joy and happiness, but Fred and George taught me that every cloud has a silver lining and always be positive.
